The Dress Experience

April 26, 2017

Planning a Wedding can be a big challenge.  Guys & Girls all over the world have longed for this day for years and want to make it super special, and live out all their dreams.

But the biggest challenge without a doubt for any bride is the dress!  The one feature they hope will shine out above all others.

It can be a quick decision or a long struggle searching through hundreds of magazines, Pinterest posts, and travelling half way round the country to find The One!

But once you do...the excitement kicks up a gear.

When I set myself the challenge to step out of my photographers bubble, and learn more about other professions within the Wedding industry, Bridal Wear was top of my list!...Well along with Floristry...I love a Flower or 2!

So when Emilie posted on a local Facebook community board, that she had taken over a bridal shop in the local town of Haslemere in Surrey, I jumped at the chance to introduce myself and invite myself over to her shop.

Emilie was more than happy to have me, and what a gorgeous lady she is.!

Very Passionate, Professional, and above all, Classy and Knowledgeable.

Emilie comes from a Woman's Wear Fashion Design background, and has worked in both London & Hong Kong.  But always longed for a Bridal Shop.

Moving to Haslemere recently, she walked past the existing shop on a daily basis, dreaming that one day her wish would come true.

Her luck came in, when she noticed a small sign in the window one day, advertising that the shop was up for sale.  Within a few weeks, she was in and getting settled.

I turned up at the shop, and my first immediate reaction was 'Oh how lovely'.  It was everything you would want from a bridal shop.  I felt calm and relaxed as soon as I entered the door and stepped inside.  Little did I know at this point, Emilie had only been open 2 weeks!!!

The shop and style is a delightful mix of Classy, Elegant, Modern Shabby Chic.

Being surrounded by all the stunningly beautiful dresses is every girls dream!  I was transported into a fairy-tale, and it took all my will power not to ask to try one on! Ha!

As a Wedding Photographer I am surrounded by Brides in Wedding Dresses all the time, but I never seem to take into consideration the magical feeling they must have had when they first step into that dream shop.

I spent an hour with Emilie, chatting about the local community, and the modern wedding industry, all whilst enjoying beautiful fresh lemon scented water, served in the most lovely crystal glasses.  Everything was just so elegant!

After talking for sometime about the minefield that is paperwork, accounts and social media, I decide now was the time to take some photographs, and try and capture the experience of a bridal shop.

To be able to walk into a shop and immediately be transported back to those feelings of being a little girl with a pillow case on your head, and dreaming of your Prince Charming, is no mean feet, and it’s a true credit to Emilie, and her amazing shop May & Grace Bridal.

Emilie has put many hours into the preparation of the shop, and now spends countless days tinkering to ensure every person that walks through the door, gets that all important dress experience.

Each customer is offered a private 1.5hr appointment to ensure they get the maximum time out of their visit.  And the attention to detail that Emilie provides is second to none.

So I guess to conclude my bridal shop adventure, I again have come away from yet another supplier in awe, and understand that we are all in the same boat.

We all offer a different service or product, but we all strive for the same goal, a happy customer!

The hours and dedication we put into our professions are all made worth it, by the smiles of a happy couple.

Thank You to Emilie Crease at May & Grace Bridal for having me, it was truly a magical hour very well spent.
